How to Pack for an Adventure Vacation

One sure way to free you from the stress of modern living is an adventure vacation. Vacations are not completely free from hassles though since packing is involved. There is an enormous amount of time spent trying to pack for a vacation because a large portion of it is spent trying to figure out what to take and once you get there you find you do not need half of what you took with you.

There are some tips for packing that can reduce the amount of stress that you feel at having to leave work undone and make a schedule for your vacation. Take everything that you think you will take with you and separate it into a "take" and "don't take" section to make the packing for an adventure vacation easier for you. The process of elimination will be more efficient and easier this way.

WHAT YOU SHOULD PACK

Clothing is necessary.

This is why many people have a hard time since it is considered crucial to packing. When packing your clothes for an adventure vacation you have to remember that you should only take what you are going to use. The kind of adventure vacation that you are taking has to be finalized first. The clothes that you will require during the stay will be dependant on the climate of your destination. You want light cotton clothing if you are going to the beach or on a nature trip because the weather is likely to be hot and humid.

You need to take a jacket and other protective clothing is you are going to a place that has cold weather. To keep from having to take a lot of things to make your clothes you should decide on a specific theme for the color of the clothing that you pick. You want clothing that is not going to wrinkle or crumple easily. (TIP: It is better to pack thermal underwear instead of heavy coats and jackets for your vacation to save space.

Clothing that can be used for more than one purpose like a sarong and that you can layer should be used for tropical climates.) You only need to take two pairs of shoes to wear, flip flops and one closed toe. Clothing for both casual and formal occasions needs to be taken with you when you go on a cruise for vacation. An alarm clock can be an important item. When your destination is in a different time zone this is very important.

You will need a travel alarm to prevent running late and missing thing. (TIP: You should take something that will double as an alarm clock like PSPs, cellular phone or other handheld device.) Medication is necessary for those that are taking it. You should give the proper attention to any medication especially if it is prescribed. When you are on prescription medication, you have to take enough to last the length of the trip. You will need a copy of your prescription when you travel abroad to ensure the drugs are legal.

You will need a first aid kit even if you do not have any prescription medicines.

Toiletries are very important as well. You can usually get lotions, shampoos and soaps at the hotel but if you have a brand preference, you will need to take your own. They should be kept to a minimum and in small bottles. (TIP: Toiletries should be kept in zip lock bags to protect the other items in the bag in case of leaks.) Credit cards, cash or travelers checks are another important item to take. You should keep cash to a minimum for your own safety.

International credit cards are best for taking care of your needs while on an adventure vacation.

(TIP: In case the ATM eats, a card or you lose one you should take two.)
